When Rene’ Martinez discovered her passion for quilting in 2009, she was delighted to find herself in the middle of a new movement and a welcoming community of like-minded creatives. With the founding of The Craft Table, Rene’ wants to share that same joy and inspiration with others.
Tucked away inside eclectic Ivanhoe Village, a charming maker space opens its door and welcomes you in to discover your crafty side. There’s no experience required, only the desire to discover. All-inclusive workshops and open craft nights weave strangers into new friends around the cozy, namesake table that inspires new skills in quilting, embroidery, crochet, stamping, macrame, lino printing, hand lettering, and more.
process
The initial logo sketches started with the idea of the table as a collaborative tool: how ideas and skills are shared around the table. I then explored elements used in craft like the thread, stamps, and quilt patterns.
Rene’ really loved the variety in patterning that my last concept included. From there, I developed a clean typographic base that was expanded upon through several transitional styles. Much like her business which included different forms of craft that involved fabric, the logos shift and are meant to be used depending on the type craft a specific event or workshop is focused on.
